Joleen Buxbaum

My name is Joleen Buxbaum, and I am in my 26th year of teaching in the TVUSD. I currently teach at Jackson Elementary, Tony Tobin Elementary and Temecula Luiseno Elementary. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Recreation from Whittier College, and received my Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. I have taught middle school science, middle school math, middle school physical education, and elementary physical education. My passion is elementary because I love working with younger students, exposing them to a wide variety of activities, and seeing the excitement on their faces when they find an activity they enjoy and excel in. In the past I was a dancer, as well as a swimmer and synchronized swimmer. I enjoy swimming, going to the gym, playing tennis, camping, and trips to the beach. In the summertime I share my passion for aquatics by teaching lessons in my backyard pool. I truly believe that with fun, challenging PE activities, every student can have success and enjoyment in PE, which will carry over into a lifetime of activity and fitness.

I am looking forward to meeting your children and sharing my passion for physical activity with them this year.

Darren Caster

My name is Darren Caster, and am currently the PE specialist at Rancho Elementary School and French Valley Elementary, Nicolas Valley Elementary, and LaVorgna Elementary. I have had a variety of classroom teaching experiences, including teaching kindergarten, 5th grade, special education, and middle school math. However, as a lifelong lover of sports (both watching and playing) and fitness, I am excited to be a part of recently implemented Physical Education Program for TVUSD. As a child, I had the benefit of having PE in elementary school, and I recognize the positive impact it can have on students at a young age. With young children of my own who have just begun or will be beginning their educational experience in TVUSD in the coming years, I am happy they will also be able to benefit from being able to participate in the program.

Hello! My name is Chris Rivard. I am entering my 16th year of teaching in the TVUSD.

This year I will be teaching PE at LaVorgna, Rancho, and Temecula Elementary School. I am extremely excited to be your child's PE teacher this year, and I am looking forward to a fantastic year. Prior to becoming a PE teacher in the district, I previously taught both 3rd and 5th grades at Temecula Luiseno Elementary from 2007-2018, and 3rd grade at Nicolas Valley Elementary from 2003-2007. I have lived in Temecula since 1998 with my beautiful wife Lisa and our three children. I grew up in Kankakee, Illinois with my nine brothers and sisters! After graduating from high school, I moved to California to pursue a college education and play baseball. I met my wife Lisa while attending El Camino College in Torrance. I also attended Southern Utah State University and Cal. State Long Beach. Before entering the teaching profession, I was the Operations Manager for a transportation company in Los Angeles for 16 years. I then earned my teaching credential from Cal. State San Marcos. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my grandsons, going to the gym, cooking on the barbecue, playing golf, and watching my favorite teams: the Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. As a proponent of lifelong fitness, I am excited to share my passion for physical education with your children. I truly love teaching, and I'm thrilled to be able to work with such tremendous staff members, students, and parents here in the TVUSD.
